Nomzamo Crèche and Day Care Centre is situated on the island of the busy London Rd, in Alexandra, Johannesburg.
The centre is currently looking after 55 toddlers and children aged between 6 months to 4 years old.
It is merely a shack made of zinc sheets and plastic, it is fenced off by fragile and porous diamond mish. There is no solid protection to the crèche from passing by heavy vehicles, it is also open from all sides so there is plenty of dust and noise around the centre.
The crèche is run by Rose Cuba with her two assistants who have no formal occupational training and are in desperate need of professional training.
The River Church Foundation in partnership with Rizah and Rotary Club of Morningside are currently busy revamping the whole creche facility. Rizah has donated R250,000 for this project.
